GETTING STARTED: Orientation
Orientation is
the easiest way to prepare for your studies in the Biological Sciences.
It
provides
students
an
opportunity
to…
- get acquainted with their department, college, and campus
- learn about our 9 Biological Sciences majors
- transfer credit to UCSC and apply it to your degree program
- get started on your biology major: take
placement exams and get enrolled for Fall
- learn how to make an academic plan
- learn how to declare your major
- receive academic advising and information on our departmental
policies
- explore the possibilities of participating in the Education
Abroad Program
- learn about resources and services available
to our students
Orientation is held twice a year: Summer
Orientation sponsored by
Admissions is held throughout July.
Fall Orientation takes place during the first week of fall quarter.
If you choose not to attend orientation, please be sure to read up
on all the information we cover in the links above and in the Advising Index. We hold our students accountable for knowing their degree requirements as well as the department's policies, so it's important you familiarize yourself with all this material. If you have any questions feel free
